UEFA Europa League result: Dominic Solanke, Pape Sarr and Brennan Johnson secure victory for 10-man hosts after Radu Dragusin is sent off

THE TOTTENHAM OF TEN MEN NETO THREE IN SUSPENSE WITH QARABAG

Brennan Johnson, Pape Sarr and Dominic Solanke scored as 10-man Tottenham began their UEFA Europa League campaign with a 3-0 win over Qarabag.

The hosts suffered a series of twists in the early afternoon as a 35-minute kick-off delay due to a serious travel disruption was followed by a straight red card for Radu Dragusin after eight minutes.

It didn’t seem to faze the Lilywhites as they took the lead just five minutes later when Johnson scored his third goal in his last three games after good work from Solanke.

Ange Postecoglou’s men scored the second goal just seven minutes into the second half, when Sarr volleyed home a corner kick from the right.

However, Qarabag remained a major threat with Juninho hitting the post and Toral Bayramov hitting the crossbar with a missed penalty.

The Kazakh minnows failed to get on the scoresheet and Solanke secured the points with 22 minutes remaining with a simple tap-in.

The only sour note on a positive night for Spurs was the withdrawal of captain Son Heung-Min ahead of Sunday’s Premier League visit to Manchester United.
