The limited edition PlayStation 5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle sold out in seconds and now scalpers are selling it for thousands

Unsurprisingly, the PlayStation 5 Pro – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition bundle sold out in seconds, with scalpers already upping their listings with huge markups on the price.

Pre-orders for the PS5 Pro – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition BundIe went live today, September 26, in the UK and across the Eurozone via PlayStation Direct for just £959.99 / €1,099.99. US pricing and pre-orders will go live later today.

As a reminder, this special version of the PS5 Pro console and accompanying accessories features retro design elements and a heritage color scheme that pays homage to the original PlayStation console. Each limited edition PS5 Pro console is individually numbered as a collector’s item, and only 12,300 of these numbered consoles are available for customers to purchase worldwide.

Shoppers were quick to report “out of stock” messages for the limited edition PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary console bundle just minutes after pre-orders went live on PlayStation Direct in the UK, prompting frustration for many who had visited the site and sat in the queue beforehand.

And now, there are multiple listings for the limited edition 30th anniversary PS5 Pro console bundle on eBay, with scalpers asking up to £10,000.

These scalpers don’t have their hands on the limited edition PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle. Instead, they’re selling off their successful pre-orders. However, there are already dozens of listings for the bundle on eBay from scalpers hoping to profit from its limited availability. The situation is so bad that there are counter-listings on eBay warning buyers not to buy a pre-order from scalpers.

Even the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition bundle, which wasn’t as restricted as the PS5 Pro version, is sold out, sparking a scalper online.

The situation revives memories of the scalping of four years ago, when the PlayStation 5 went on sale, and Sony seemed as powerless to stop it as it is now. Of course, the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection isn’t due out until November 21, so there’s time for Sony and auction sites like eBay to step in, but neither company has announced plans to do so.
