Costco Canada has announced another yogurt recall

If you’re an avid shopper at Costco Canada, you may want to check your refrigerator because the retailer has issued another yogurt recall.

In a notice posted on its website on Sept. 23, Costco Canada said the recall applies to Kirkland Signature Probiotic Yogurt (Costco item 1264134) purchased between Sept. 3, 2024, and Sept. 19, 2024. The products were sold in a 24-pack containing 100-gram containers.

Danone Canada is recalling the product, it says, because it may contain yeast that could make people with compromised immune systems sick.

However, the risk to food safety is considered “low” because yeast is not known to grow in refrigerated temperatures.

You can check if you have the affected products by looking for one of these three applicable expiration dates:

  • 2024 OC 18
  • 2024 OC 20
  • 2024 OC 22

Costco says customers should not consume Kirkland Signature Probiotic Yogurt if they have purchased it. Instead, they should return it to a Costco warehouse for a full refund.

This is the second yogurt recall the major retailer has announced in two weeks.

On September 10, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall of Kirkland Signature brand Greek yogurt due to mold.

According to the recall notice, microbial contamination is “not harmful” but is based on quality and spoilage.

The affected product is the 24-pack of 100-gram Kirkland Signature Greek yogurt sold at Costco. Its UPC code is 0 96619 22215 5 and its expiration date is August 10, 2024.

The article was distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
