Barcelona vs Getafe: Confirmed lineups, LaLiga matchday 7

Barcelona host Getafe without Ter Stegen in search of equalling the second best start in their league history

BARCELONA — The Barcelona has the chance to equalize this Wednesday, against Getafethe second best start in La Liga in its history, which the team coached by Ernesto Valverde has maintained since 2017, increasing the number of consecutive victories to seven, a full house that pursues the leader of Hansi Flick in what will be his first match without the presence of Marc-André ter Stegen.

The German goalkeeper has become the latest victim of a true pandemic of injuries affecting the Barça squad, with up to eight players missing, five of whom have been out since the start of the current season.

This is how Iñaki Peña will make his debut this season, in the midst of a debate about the convenience of signing an experienced goalkeeper to complete the squad, with the name of the Polish Wojciech Szczesny (who retired this summer at Juventus) being pointed out as Hansi Flick’s favourite, although Barça are considering other options such as Keylor Navas.

In addition to Ter Stegen, Marc Bernal will be out for the entire season, while Andreas Christensen is not expected until mid-December, Ronald Araújo a few weeks before (in November) and during the month of October Fermín López, Dani Olmo, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi, although in the case of the latter, whose aim is to be included in the list for the Clásico against Real Madrid, the club prefers to be cautious and not risk more than necessary.

Getafe, who are still without Álvaro Rodríguez, will arrive at Montjuïc dragging along their third worst start to the league in the First Division, without knowing a victory after the first six games and only improving the numbers of 2007 (two draws and four defeats) and 2021 (six defeats in a row).

The expectations for Bordalás’ team are not the best, given that the blue-and-whites have lost consecutively in their last six visits to Barça, whom they have never been able to beat away from home after 21 official encounters (17 defeats and 4 draws).

Flick left open the possibility of introducing rotations in the starting XI, although ruling out giving Lamine Yamal a rest.
