Manchester City 2-2 Arsenal: Guardiola could be facing a major problem

We may not know for a few days what damage Manchester City’s draw with Arsenal will do.

As manager Pep Guardiola has pointed out, Rodri is not the type of player to leave a game early, so the fact that he did so suggests that the injury he sustained early in the game is serious.

It is well established how important he is to this City team, so if the Spanish midfielder is ruled out for any length of time, it will surely have an impact on their chances of extending their run of four consecutive Premier League titles.

Mateo Kovacic is an excellent player and the return of Ilkay Gundogan means there are options for City’s central midfield.

But Pep knows, as does everyone, that no one can replace Rodri. He is arguably the most important player in City’s squad.

In a season riddled with off-field problems, Guardiola could be about to face a rather big one.
