NYT ‘Connections’ September 20: Clues and Answers for Game #467

It’s Friday—time to unwind with the newest Connections puzzle.

The New York Times game has seen massive success since it first launched in June 2023 and is the newspaper’s second most-played word puzzle behind Wordle.

In an interview with Newsweek earlier this year, Connections developer and NYT crossword editor Wyna Liu reflected on its success.

“The response has been really incredible and overwhelming, and unexpected,” she said in June. “It’s exciting that something I care very deeply about is resonating with people.”

The answers for Friday’s Connections puzzle will be revealed at the end of this article, so if you want to work them out yourself, be wary of scrolling too far.

How to Play ‘Connections’

If you’re new to Connections, it’s easy to pick up the rules of play. To start, players are given a set of 16 words and must break those words into four groups of four based on similar characteristics or themes. The categories range in difficulty—purple is the hardest, followed by blue, green and yellow, which is considered the easiest.

For example, in Thursday’s puzzle, one of the categories was “PBS shows,” and the words associated with that category were “Frontline,” “Masterpiece,” “Nature” and “New.” This was a blue category.

If your four selected words are correct, they will flash in the category difficulty color and disappear from the board. If they are incorrect, however, they will remain on the grid.

While players are not constrained by a time limit, they’re only given four guesses, so be sure to think carefully before hitting “Submit.” If you’re struggling and need some assistance while you play, feel free to click the “Shuffle” button.
